OffsideEveryTime is a soccer site for the rest of us — the weekend pickup crowd, the late-starters, the Sunday-league veterans nursing their hamstrings with foam rollers and bad ideas.
If you’ve ever bought boots you couldn’t afford, played in shoes that were one size too small for a season because returning them felt like admitting defeat, or argued with a friend about which jersey to buy before a World Cup — you’re in the right place.
Who runs this
I’m Ilya. I’m 38, not a coach, not a former pro, and definitely not getting any faster. I play three times a week (when my wife lets me) in a local league. I’ve been doing this since I was a kid.
What I’m actually good at: spending too much time researching gear before buying it, comparing options obsessively, and figuring out what’s worth the money for someone who plays for love, not money.
I started OffsideEveryTime because most soccer gear sites are written by either pros, brand marketers, or people who don’t play. None of them are writing for the player who shows up tired, plays 60 minutes, drinks a beer with the team, and limps home — but still cares enough to want the right boots.
What you’ll find here
- Gear reviews and buyer guides — boots, shin guards, balls, training equipment, recovery tools. Real comparisons, real tradeoffs, no marketing copy.
- World Cup and pro tactical content — what the best players are using, but framed for the rest of us. The boots that won the final, and the version you can actually afford.
- Fitness and recovery for adult players — because nobody else is writing about how to play decent soccer when your knees are 35 and your warmup takes 20 minutes.
Everything is written from the perspective of someone who plays, breaks gear, replaces gear, and pays for it with their own money. When I recommend something, it’s because I’d buy it again. When I don’t recommend something, I’ll tell you why.
How we make money
OffsideEveryTime participates in the Amazon Associates program. When you buy something through a link on this site, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This pays for the time we spend testing, researching, and writing.
We do not accept payment for reviews. We don’t take “PR samples” in exchange for positive coverage. We don’t write sponsored content disguised as editorial. If we recommend something, it’s because we’d recommend it to a teammate after a match — not because someone paid us to.

Got a gear question, a tip, a correction, or just want to argue about boot soleplates? Use the Contact page. I read every message.
If you want to support what we do, the most useful thing is sharing an article with someone who’d find it useful, or using our Amazon links when you’d be buying anyway. Both keep this site running.
Thanks for being here. See you on the pitch.
